If a Multiplatform Game Features Wii U Gamepad Only, I'm Buying It

There. I said it. I don't just like the Wii U, it's my preferred console. The reason? Simple really, the option to play on the Gamepad only.

The Nintendo Wii U isn't just another console, featuring better graphics and what-not. It offers a new controller. One with a screen in it, that allows not only extra features in-game (such as maps and inventory without having to pause) but lets you play without the need for a television.

I can play Black Ops 2 while watching Monday Night Football. If someone in the house wants to watch their show it's not a problem either. Simply switch to Gamepad only play and off we go.

It doesn't just stop there though. While you can use the Gamepad while watching another program, you can also use it with the television completely off. Or if you really want to get crazy, you don't even have to plug the Wii U into a t.v. at all. All you need is a standard power outlet, the Gamepad, and a game that allows this functionality and you can be playing any time, any where.

The three biggest games I play right now on the Wii U are Black Ops 2, New Super Mario Bros. U, and Skylanders Giants. I have easily logged dozens more hours on each game respectively because of this feature alone. I don't have to hide away in my man cave or share the downstairs flat screen. With the Gamepad, everyone gets what they want.

There are plenty more games that feature this as well. Assassin's Creed 3, Darksiders 2, Trine 2, and Mass Effect 3 for example.

Here's the thing, this Gamepad only feature is amazing and it's really changed how I play games. If a new game releases with this feature, and is available on every other console, I'm buying it for the Wii U. No question about it.

Nintendo has really got themselves something special with this feature.
