In the run up to the release of H1Z1 Sony Online Entertainment have announced that they will be getting rid of individual subscriptions for games. Instead they will be implimenting a single, cheaper payment system that will grant you access to all games.
So, what are the perks of this system? Well, for one it will grant you
top-tier membership in all eligable SOE games as well as 500SC every
month, 10% discount on marketplace purchases and access to exclusive
promotions throughout the year. This is a very good plan on Sony's part.
It saves the gamer some cash and it ensures that SOE games will have
more players, ensuring their longevity.
This is particularly important when we consider that these games are MMOs. The only thing MMO developers care about, or should care about, is keeping the players they have acquired. With this move Sony are also including platinum membership on all future games, like the upcoming H1Z1.
It is worth noting that this deal is only for the US as SOE's EU servers are run by a separate company but that is easy enough for us in the EU to get around. So, hopefully H1Z1 will be as awesome as I think it will be and I will get membership to Planetside 2 and loads of other awesome games, essentially, for free.
