Ubisoft has announced that Watch_Dogs will not be the 1080p/60fps that was promised but rather 900p on Playstation 4 and 792p on Xbox One. Both consoles will also be locked down to 30fps. The resolution and frame-rate isn't a huge issue, (though 30fps might be) but the fact that it was supposed to be 1080p/60fps until very recently it may leave some gamers feeling rather sour.
So, the question then becomes; should this be a huge issue? Well, it depends on what you intend to do. It is definitely weird that Ubisoft had confirmed in Germany, very openly, that the game would be 1080p/60fps on PS4. So this is what should happen:
1) Don't ever pre-order games.
2) DONT EVER PRE-ORDER GAMES
I don't understand why this has become an accepted practise in the industry. I mean, I get it... it makes sense from an investors point of view, you have X amount of money guaranteed.
From a gamer's point of view it makes much less sense. You are paying for a product before you see it properly and before you have heard much feedback. This also applies to buying games on launch day. You don't have to do it, it doesn't make sense.
I have heard people say that pre ordering from a respectable company makes a difference. It doesn't. To start with, Ubisoft is not a respectable developer. They take a franchise and run it into the ground. Also, Naughty Dog or CD Projekt Red, two of the most respected developers, aren't immune from releasing shit games.
Sony said, on their website that Watch_Dogs will not be 1080p, 60fps, on Xbox One, saying that this is an experience that:
"only the PS4 can provide [...]The world of Watch Dogs comes alive on PS4 with the best graphics on any console and exclusive missions found only on PlayStation,"
In the end, this doesn't really matter. It's trivial at best.
Don't pre-order games and everything will be fine.
